Day 12
In your own space, talk about what you think the future holds for fandom. What are your hopes and dreams for fandom? Do you have any predictions about what the next five years holds for fandom? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I honestly try not to think about the future of fandom too much, since the idea of it going away gives me the willies. Fandom has been a huge part of my life for the last 10 years. A lot of my favorite stories are fandom based, and I've discovered a lot of interesting media because of stories and art I've read/seen.
When it comes to writing a fanwork, right now things are mostly about whether or not a publishing company wants to make a point about their franchise and sue you. There are some authors that have come out very against fanworks, but there hasn't been much movement as far as people being sued over the disagreement. As we move forward into the self-publishing age, it will be interesting to see how the affects of individual author's opinions begin to influence fanworks.
