So all of that is a great prompt except the MOOD. LOL. I'll figure out how to make it work.

(And next time, pick another more obscure mom; I should have realized she'd take it.)

I tried watching the short-lived B5 spinoff Crusade. I have terrible news: I really like it!

It was a good choice on Past Me's part to not jump immediately into the B5 spinoff material. (At this point, I've still only seen "In the Beginning" as far as the movies go.) I think if I'd watched this right after the main show, which is definitely much better, I'd have been disappointed, but now that it's been a year or so, I'm delighted! Every time main show canon gets a shout-out, I bounce a little!

I've seen episodes 1 and 9-11, for reasons I will get into under the cut.

Four episodes in. )

Anyway, it's a bit sad that this never had a chance to find its feet the way the first season of B5 did. (Also, it certainly makes it clear that as much as B5 got editorially messed around, it could have been so much worse.) I would have liked a couple of seasons of this to watch, but there are still a few more episodes, and I expect I'll enjoy those.

2) Reading one of those books that I bought some time ago but never got to ^^

3) Possibly going to an art fair this evening Didn't go to the art fair but I did receive the mail I had been waiting for from my landlord. I feared they were ignoring my messages.

Challenge 299:
UPRISING
It’s dangerous. Even success will probably result in some collateral damage, and failure could have catastrophic consequences. But sometimes, things are just so bad that there’s really only one way out: rising up and doing something about it, no matter the costs along the way.

Would your characters participate in an uprising, given the chance? Would they lead it? Or would they try to stop it, for whatever reason? How does it work out for them?

Write a story about an uprising.

BONUS GOAL: “How do we get rid of you?”

If your submission features this line, it will earn an extra point to be tallied in voting!

Challenge ends Monday, May 4 at 9:00PM EST.
• Post submissions as new entries using the template in the profile
• Tag this week's entries as: [#] submission, 299 – uprising
• If you have questions about this challenge, please ask them here

Publishing the secret histories of the world meant the need for a particularly robust fact-checking department to sort out what was little-known from what was entirely fabricated. He was just glad he wasn't on the team that handled speculative history, whose manuscript drafts dropped in from time anomalies in the break room kitchen. He had never felt equipped to deal with the ethical quandaries of changing future events just to minimize one's proofreading mistakes.

The collection is live! We ended up with a total of 37 fics this time — meaning the collection almost got 50% larger in the last two days! Awesome job, everyone! I'm glad I wasn't the only one writing until the very last second, haha.

As usual, please do not check out the fics via the fandom list page on AO3. Only a couple of fandoms are listed there, due to AO3's wrangling policy, so most of the stories won't show up on said page. Instead, there's an alternative fandom list below. (You can also browse the collection via the works page on AO3, where all are accounted for.)

All stories, ordered alphabetically by fandom:

behind the cut )

Thank you all so very much for taking part! I know these are all nonexistent fandoms, but I hope we can try to check out our fellow participants' stories and comment wherever possible. If you're not familiar with any of the fandoms, you can also try browsing the tag page to see if there are any themes/tropes/kinks that catches your eye.

Happy reading! I really hope to see you guys again next round ♥

How long have you belonged to this community? What attracted you to it? How often do you play?

I'm not exactly sure when I joined, but I joined specifically to help Vexed_Wench host the first round of Winterfest in July (then called Christmas in July Bingo) in 2014. Vexed made creative bingo sound really fun and I liked how we could do fills with anything of any medium and make our own cards. I honestly try to play every month, but I'm lucky if I make one bingo a year. I do cohost two reoccurring bingos a year, though (Winterfest in July and Fall Fest).

What do you like best about creative bingo? Do you feel that it helps you as a creative person?

I like how it's a different way to present creative prompts, a bit like a chose your own adventure book, or a table with extra gamification. I like creative bingo at allbingo specifically because of how open to interpretation and open ended possibilities of what kind of fills you can do. I think it helps me as a creative person. The different themes everyone comes up with helps spark ideas I wouldn't have had otherwise.

What are some of your favorite bingo themes? Are those single events, recurring, or a mix of both?

Aside from themes I've hosted/,co-hosted, my favorite themes have been (they are a mix of single events and reoccurring):
Valentines Fest
Tolkien Bingo Fest
British Library Crime Classics
National Craft Month
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Pride Bingo
Sleepy Bear Bingo
Amnesty
Meet-Ugly Fest
Tarot Fest
Summer in December

Do you participate in other bingo communities? If so, what are some of your favorites?

Not really anymore. Pretty much all of them I used to participate in have shut down. I do enjoy whatif_au's annual anniversary bingo challenge. This is their 3rd year. The round goes from April until the end of July.

Do you typically create fills in the same format or fandom, or spread them out over different kinds? What will readers find in your work?

I used to do primarily crafts, but now do more fics. It's still a mix. One bingo, I did all book rec lists for fills and I've done playlists for fills too. I do write for a large variety of fandoms and original fiction, but you are most likely to find short ficlets for Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Supernatural, or Batman.

Have you ever made blackout (filled all the prompts on a card)? If so, how many times?

Yes, I have, usually only when I have a 2x2 card. I don't know how many times. It's been more than once, but it's not the norm.

Have you ever hosted a bingo fest here? If so, what was your favorite theme(s)? If not, what themes might you fantasize about hosting?

I have and do! I co-host the reoccurring Winterfest in July (since 2014) and Fall Fest Bingo (since 2015) with Vexed_Wench. I also hosted End of Summer Bingo in 2019 and co-hosted iPod Shuffle Music Fest with Kiramaru7 in 2016.

First, our little datacenter went down with a power issue overnight. We were down about 6 hours total, but things should be back up and running.  If you see any issues, please don't hesitate to contact us.

That said, it's a good time to address something in our Terms of Service. We invite you to use all of our services, and even suggest more services that we might be able to bring to the community. We prohibit the use of "Patreon" or "Ko-Fi" and other links within profiles, stories, etc., because doing so jeopardizes our 501c3 non-profit status with the government. I bring this up because this week we found someone was hosting drawings (NSFW and non-NSFW alike) on Squidge Images - which is fine. But, they were using said images on a Patreon, making people pay to see said images.

That's the clarification. You can use our services as you wish - but as it says in our Terms of Service that you cannot use it for moneymaking purposes. If you're going to run a Patreon campaign and charge people for access, Squidge can not be part of the conversation. You'll need to find elsewhere for hosting.

I'm going to add this, because I know someone is going to ask. If you're a commission artist and you want to host your stuff on Squidge Images, that's fine. But you cannot actively promote "pay to play" actions like Patreon or the like while using Squidge property because, as I said, it can jeopardize our non-profit status.

And if you're curious, when we found out about the Patreon thing, we gave the person 12 hours to clear out before we banned them. We're not animals here - we're people, just like you.

Tonight at the local chamber music recital, the production halted between performances because someone's device was making enough noise to be heard by the musicians. That the person's device was in the front row right up against the stage isn't as important as you'd think, because the acoustics in this room are good enough you could hear it from several rows away. At least, I was able to.

An old woman had taken off her hearing aids and put them in her bag, but they kept producing feedback and chirping loud enough that the bag had to be taken out of the room so the performance would continue - and then got taken out again after the intermission when the chirping still hadn't died down.

Chamber music performances are a very different beast than many other live productions, and even so: seeing that kind of thing done soothed me to know that there's at least one place still holding onto decorum.
