Dear Yuletide writer, welcome and may your winter be kind. Yuletide has been a part of my holiday season for almost 15 years now and I appreciate you working to help keep the tradition alive.

My requests this year break down into Horror and Quiet Life Traveling Anime

General DNW: Suicidal Ideation; Possession by outside force, onpage sexual or child abuse

General love to have: Characters who are kind, even when they make mistakes and aren't necessarily moral. Disability and Mental issues shown Onpage.
Religious horror or really anything where characters grapple with the difference between the life defined for them and the one they want or choose.
Nontraditional narrative structure, second person, time skips, series of drabbles, letters and news clippings, whatever floats your boat. While I'm fine with tradition structure I like to get a feel for the world that isn't always possible in chronological limited third POV.

Girl With All the Gifts
Loved this story and have if as a comfort listen even though I rarely make it though the whole thing on every relisten. Would love something post book. Between it's ending and the Epilogue in Boy on the Bridge. How do they make the new world from all the children? Do they go back for the kids at the base? What's it like for Melanie when she understands what she did? Is she guilty or does she see it as still justified. At the end Helen Justineau says that she's showing the kindness she understood from how she was treated by the adults at the base. Where does that lead their relationship?

Mister Magic

This was a break out love for me. I'm picky about my horror and have a soft spot a mile wide of lapsed christians dealing with religious horror. And new I had to read this from her children's book series. Absurdist stories are another fave. Val is amazing throughout.

I'd love something post book or set in a canon divergent AU. Maybe Val doesn't get pulled out? Does she find a way out got herself and the others? What if Isaac found her earlier, before the reunion got set up?

For after I loved the epilogue. How does Val do as the new Mr Magic? What powers does she learn to share with the Humm? How does her version of Mr. Magic change the children both in and out of the Humm. I loved how the story brought in the stories of all the non protagonists. How does Isaac adjust?

Kingdom of Needle and Bone
My comfort companion after the last couple of hard years. I've had it on my car radio once every couple months.

I'd love something focused on the Islands. Either Isabelle who knows what's going on with the knowledge we get in the ending. Or one or all the other women on the Island. We have a really big time skip when the narrative zooms out to the world scale where I'd love to see how they build and live and change themselves. For added spice maybe something they deals with the mythologization we already see happening with the name of Kingdom of Needle and Bone. How does that effect religion and teaching the children how to be so separate from the outside world. How does that effect the adults who make that kind of decision.

葬送のフリーレン | Sousou no Frieren | Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (Manga)

This one I fell into right before Yuletide so I'm not as well versed in the canon, but I love the vibes. And the idea of showing your love for those you lost by raising their kids and following the path you once took. Frieren is both very distant from those around her and is trying so hard to learn how to reconnect even as she says it doesn't come naturally to her species.

Something set in either journey or swapping back and forth as in canon would be lovely. Or an AU where she comes back earlier for the horn and gets more than a single short visit with the original party. Do they go on a memory trip of their own?

Banished from the Hero's Party
So this one's is kinda borderline between horror and after the story ends anime. I'd love something that leans into the more horror elements. Red and Rits Destinies have pretty much already been fulfilled but Red at least seems to acknowledge how that fact is related to their Destinies being more limited. There don't seem to be any other Guardians in the demon horde for Red to kill and go stronger. Rit's is overtaken by her brothers.

In Ruti and Tisse's story we see the darker side of wanting to escape your Destiny but not being able to. I love the girls growing friendship, particularly Tisse's willingness to meet Ruti where she is. I'd love something that focuses on either pair. Or all four together. Particularly would love Ruti's POV. We don't get a lot of her first person version of events. So much of all the plot rotating around her decisions.

Violet Evergarden
Would prefer pre movie. I love her traveling and growing into herself after the army. Forcing people to see her as more of a person than a military dog or instrument for their own voice.

And how in seeing others aknowledging her humanity she finds it for herself. Followup ok one of her letters or a new job. Or just her around the postal service learning to do things for herself and her own wants. Also so much love for any discussion of her disability as more than a passing change in her prosthetics.

Pals in Peril - M. T. Anderson

Summary

Pals in Peril is an old favorite of mine. And continues to be on my comfort listen list. I'm a huge absurdist humor lover. From Eva Ibbotson to Futurama absurd humor is my comfort place. If you have ever seen the "this might as well happen" meme that is my autistic feeling on life.
But I digress! The narrator! The footnotes! The magical land of Deleware! The fact that time can only move once people stop looking at it. There are just so many fun things to explore in this works and with these characters. Another case fic. One of Jasper or Katie's books. Lily going back to Deleware to explore when she is a little older. Just anything that keeps the kindness and the absurdity alive.
DNW: Super dark fic. There are bad things in the world. But the kids shouldn't be one of them.

Monk & Robot Series - Becky Chambers

Summary

Oh this series! I'm an absolute sucker for Road Trip Narratives. A good third of my favorite media had some sort of road trip theme.
But also the kindness and the moral/point that there is no one reason to live. The last year has been a mess personally and there have been plenty of times I needed that message.
Give me more of either of these characters or this world. Or all three. Don't feel the need to include all three If that isnt where your muse takes you. Precanon Mosscap or Sibling Dex traveling. Or maybe a glimpse into other peoples lives. Or go all the way back to the first landing or factory age. Just please keep the kindness and the hope alive!
DNW: unresolved angst. Things can be hard and bad but not hopeless.

ゆるキャン△ | Yuru Camp | Laid-Back Camp (Anime)

Summary

This is the second year for requesting this fandom. If you gave read the previous details you probably know what I'm going to talk about. The travel! The kindness! The fact that Rin is a winter camping nut like me! Use any or just some of the characters. I'm fine with whatever.
This is a great series to do fusions or AUs of because all of the characters are very much themselves. Also there are always more camping trips to go on if you want to keep to canon. Earlier or later in their lives we get to see glimpses of that in the series but plenty of times left to explore.
DNW: Explicit sex for these characters. Romance and schmoop are more than fine but I'm not up for anything hard core with these characters.

Summary

Friends protecting friends with absurd ans horror elements. I devoured this series in a few weeks and still come back to rewatch or reread. The world building is not as fleshed out as I'd like but it gives the whole piece a fairytalish feeling which is unusual for zombie horror.
Feel free to use any or all of the characters. No need to include them all.
Canon world, fusion, or AU are all fine but please keep some form of the isolation and past trauma. None of these characters would be themselves without something happening.
Precanon I'd like to see some more about how they figured out how the zombies worked and built their home. Post canon what happens to them after they leave the school (this can be either Anime where we dont know or Manga where we have a better idea. Whatever strikes your fancy)
DNW: Explicit Sex or Sexual Violence.

Summary

Roadtrip again! And a group of friends looking out for each other. Yes I am predictable.
So I got this book blind. Just knowing that it was going to be 80s horror movie themed and in 1st person.
And I am so so glad I stumbled across it. Lynette is so relatable! And Fine! The characters are falable and petty but they still are generally trying to keep themselves and each other alive.
The way Lynette is both so scared and so determined was just *chef's kiss*
You don't have to use all of the characters but please make sure to include Lynette as at least a side character in anything you write.
Adrienne who we never got to see but took all the others under her wing. Who is remarkable in Lynette's narrative for working with the other's needs and experiences and not just her own. I'd love to see more of her Precanon.
Dani who we mostly know from the fact she is the protector of those around her. Who ends up having her life torn apart twice over the course of the book.
Character studies, slice of life, road trip or casefic I'd just like to see more or these characters when they arent in a mad scramble for their lives.
DNW: Killer POV. Either their villains or the villains in the book. I want to see these women either getting an impartial narrator or telling their own story. No sexual violence please.

이상한 변호사 우영우 | Extraordinary Attorney Woo (TV)

Summary

Woo Young Woo!!!!! Fellow Autistic who is actually allowed to be visibly different and have her needs accommodated even in situations when she doesn't "earn it" through her connections or smarts.
The first episode was just soooooo soooooo amazing to me. All her little tricks to make her environment perfect for her and her special interests. The sensory and vestibular issues. The scripts. All of that and she was still supported by her family and friends without question!
I like the cases and the romance but what I would really like to see is more of her adjusting to the world. Maybe as a child. Or going through law school. Or anything in between. I just want her being herself and getting supported. Even when she isnt at her best.
DNW: major unaddressed Abelism. It's part of life being an autistic, having people get upset. But part of what made this series so special to me was that there was no question that people's ableism was unjustified and cruel.

2021 has seemed to go by in the blink of an eye and with various fires lighting up every month. I hope you and yours are doing alright. And a HUGE thank you for participating in one of my favorite holiday events.

I've learned heavily into the Cute Girls do Cute Things genre for noms because quite honestly its been a soft spot for me this year. No completely insurmountable goals/problems. Lots of non romantic friends as family tropes. And a focus on day to day life. So I'd love to see you bring that kind of energy to whatever you write.

But no matter what you create thank you do much and please have fun and be gentle with yourself.

BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt so I'll Max Out My Defense. (Anime)

This is such a fun show. It's all my favorite we live in a digital reality with bonkers fantasy and scifi elements that ignore common sense and proper worldbuilding to have as much zany fun as possible. And OMG Maple is such a folding together of my favorite character tropes. A little chaos gremlin who is amoral and ruthless but also kind and softly focused on have fun and look after her people.

I would love something about how she ans Sally meet and became such a good team. Or something with them off making mischief on some ridiculous quest.

I headcanon Maple and Neurodiverse and would love if you can work with that but know not everybody is comfortable writing characters with different neuro types. So do what you feel best.

DNW: RL violence or angst. Overblown videogame angst and stress is fine. But please nothing that challenges the lighthearted nature of the show.

SCHOOL LIVE!

School-Live ate my soul as only a good post apocalyptic story can. Chewed through the Anime and Manga over the course of a couple weeks so whichever canon you want to go for feel free.

Feel free to focus on any of the girls or do something ensemble. I just want more of these characters in this world.

Precanon I'd love to see the first few days after they holed up in the school.

In canon missing scenes of day to day life or some expansion of the Randall arc since it gets a little rushed.

Post canon I'd love to see more about how the girls rebuild and grow in different directions. How does that look after the trauma bonds they forged in canon?

DnW: please no sexual violence, no what if one of them died AUs.

Laid Back Camp

Laid Back camp has been put on regular repeat for me this year. I'm a bit of a camping nerd myself and have definitely been getting back into it more over the last two years. Between that and the very CGDCT genre conventions I was pretty much immediately hooked.

I'd love to see something set post canon when the girls are older. What would that look like?

Or maybe a camping trip that we dont get to see in canon?

This series would also be a great one to use as a fusion or AU with another setting since their characters are really solidly defined if that is your jam.

DnW: Please nothing heavily sexual. Romance between the girls is fine but I'd prefer nothing beyond fade to black.

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu

Lucy Stevens (Pokemon Detective Pikachu)

Lucy reads so neurodiverse to me. And that is part of why I love the pokemon fandom so much is how much it is built towards the creators own unique neurotype.

I would love something about Lucy growing up in the world. How did she get Psyduck? Why a Psyduck? Does Lucy also get meltdowns, so they feel connected that way?

When did she start having a special interest in reporting? Was she like the local version of Harriet the Spy only wanting to be a investigative reporter instead of a detective?

After the movie, once she is proven to be a intrepid reporter, does she get the job as more than a junior reporter? Does that mean getting to explore new places with Psyduck? Or does she stick to investigations in Ryme city and get to see the Goodmans and interview Mew 2?

Just anything Lucy centric would be great

DnW: please no focus on being ostracized or put down. Obviously it happened in canon but I would prefer minimal feelings of upset or hopelesness.

盗墓笔记重启 | The Lost Tomb Reboot (TV)

I'm a horror lover but in the people can still be decent and build found family in a horrific situation way. So between that, my love of H/C, and chronically ill MCs and I really didn't stand a chance. (Also put up your hands if you love platonic life partners)

I'd love something more on the domesticity side than the active tomb raiding side if possible. Some tomb raiding is also welcome but I'd like to see the characters getting a chance to rest/recoup. And caretake.

Humor/Crack/AUs are all welcome. I'm not super into PWP but if that's where you want to take things feel free.

DnW: Horror or Hurt without Comfort. A lot if being alone. If dealing with the cancer stuff I'd prefer to avoid extended focus on hopelessness or any kind of suicidal ideation.

Oh Murderbot how I love you. Murderbot is a drama queen to end all Drama queens. And ART cant stop pulling pigtails.

If you want to do something with their relationship I'd love to see how they grow post Network Effect. Or more from ARTs point of view during any of the books or the time skip before Network Effect.

If you prefer more character centric how does SecUnit3 handle everything that is going on? Suddenly adopted by a bunch of humans and two cranky AIs had to be a strange awakening to being able to build your own life.

Or how does Doctor Mensah deal with her trauma and the changed forced onto her life by the events of canon. She does the just thing at every turn and tries to serve the greatest good and just keeps getting rolled under by canon. We start seeing the cracks in Network Effect but would love to see something more in depth from her own POV or her families. Rather than just Murdetbots understanding which while super relatable is very narrow in scope.

DNW: please no sexual violence and please make sure to respect the very poly and gender diverse worldbuilding.

NEWSFLESH ||

I love the Newsflesh world so anything to do with their experiences pre during or post canon.

How is it living as a unaccompanied queer minor in a zombie apocalypse for Mat.

How big of an adjustment was it for Shannon becoming a morally gray virologist and finding out just how far that rabbit hole went.

Does Ash make it to Australia and of so what kind of Erwin related nonsense does she get up to?

If you want something ensemble related maybe Mat survives and they all make it to Shannon's lab. Maybe instead of running far they make a life for themselves in the Canadian wilderness and bring interesting specimens to Shannon.

I'm sure I will love whatever you write.

DnW: no sexual violence. And please keep the onscreen queerphobia to a minimum. I know that is Mat and Ash's background so cant necessarily be avoided but please be delicate.

GOBLIN EMPOROR ||

I love these characters. And Goblin Emporer is one of my comfort listens because it walks the path of traumatized and irrational characters who still make the choice to learn and support each other.

I'm suuuuuuper poly so I'd love to see these three figure out a relationship together but if you prefer a more traditional couple and trusted friend dynamic do what makes you comfortable.

Precanon focus on how they all grew up. Missing scenes from during canon or post canon get togethers. Whatever makes your heart sing.

Modern or Scifi AUs are also welcome if that suits you better.

iZombie

Major/Ravi

This is an old fandom of mine. I stopped watching during the lets all lie to Major plot line and didn't start watching again until the series ended and I could be assured folks got something approaching a happy ending.

I have been a Major/Ravi shipper since season one and it only got worse as we went through the rest of the season and got to see them rooming and taking care of each other.

I love Payton and thought the ending was super sweet, and if that is where your heart lies something to do with the Ravi and Major hanging out and taking care of each other before the series ends and they go their separate ways at the end of the series.

Alternatively The Major/Liv ending drove me a little batty. We had one conversation about our growth and helped save the world together so now we are going to adopt a lot of kids and move to an isolated island without contacting out friends again. And I would love to see some kind of Friends type setup where Liv and Major get one house and Payton and Ravi get the next store ones. And Ravi and Major play videogames and talk about their lives and help each other out instead of only seeing each other once every few years over a virtual connection.

If you are cool with shipping, I would love Ravi to actually talk to Major during the whole gaslighting mess. Explain what is going on and have it not be everybody lies to everybody hot mess. Major learning about the cures, and zombies, and why everybody is convinced he shouldn't go after Blaine. And for them to actually get a mutually truthful relationship to take them through season 2 and into the zombie apocalypse

Anna and. The Apocalypse

I love me a musical and with my love of zombie apocalypses this was right up my alley.

I would love anything to do with Anna after the end of the movie. Learning to survive in a zombie world. Does she meet other survivors? Start traveling with an itinerary around a different part of the world than her Australia map? Does she ever make it to Australia?

You don't have to include musical elements if that isn't your speed. Song fics are hard.

The Edge of Tomorrow
William Cage and Rita Vrataski

A potato chip movie of mine. Not a lot of substance but man does it hit my apocalypse buttons.

I always read this section in yuletide and always enjoy all of the fics that everyone comes up with. Apocalypse; post apocalypse cleanup, movie AUS. I love them all.

For me I would love to see Rita's transformation through the apocalypse to meeting Cage, to the war ending without knowing how. What does that look like to someone who has lived through hundreds of time loops?

Cage seems to remember his time looping after the aliens die, despite the fact that he would never have gotten the blood and there are no aliens who benefit from him having that memory. Does that mean Rita also gets her memories back, even though she no longer had an active blood connection to the aliens.

What is it like learning to live again and fixing the world. When you always only lived for the one day, the one time loop for the past entirety of a war?

Hello Dear Yuletide Author! I apologize for the wait on this. It's been a Hectic October. And that has effected communication all over the place.

First of all, Much thanks for offering to write for me. It is a kindness. And this is a much cherished part of my holiday tradition each year.

I have some pretty basic DNWS. Which are on screen child abuse or Rape. Obviously some fandoms that I have requested do involve child neglect and abuse and that can't be avoided. But I'd prefer if these things were not the focus of the story.

Particular likes: With me you can never go wrong with fluff or domestic stuff. Found families are love but not necessarily feasible for every fandom. Basically I am less invested in reality than I am in character finding understanding, support, and a brighter future.

For A Quiet Place: I loved this movie. Went to see it three times in theaters. I'm non-verbal and Hard of Hearing so this movie meant a ton to me. It was basically the ability to just enjoy a movie and not spend half of it concentrating on tracking what was being said anf guessing how that effected the plot. I didn't even use a caption box after my first time seeing it. It was amazing!!!

What I'd like to see if fic. More adventures. Wether that is surviving their first winter post apocalypse. Gathering a community of other survivors around them now that they have a way to protect themselves. Or something pre movie about adjusting to their new world. Even something set far post movie where the kids are grown up and rediscovering a world after the invaders have all beentries defeated. And how living in a world where 90% of the population is gone changes things. Are most of the survivors deaf? Or have some other adaptive ability that helped them to survive?

Space Captain Harlock: This is not in my usual wheelhouse for movies. But one of my friends insisted that we watch it and I fell in love with the premise. I'd love something post canon if you can. The two captains learning to be partners and Logan learning to do things one eyed. And how does the fact that they are basically mirror images of each other effect things. A lot of what is going on with Logan is sped up for effect. But I'd love to see how he deals with finding out the truth about earth and turning against the religious and political beliefs he was raised in. Did he always feel out of place in his old life? Or did he have faith and now find himself floundering in this new anarchist pirate lifestyle?

Murderbot Diaries: Oh murderbot how I love you. Sarcastic and insular and can't help but adopt every soft and nice human they come across. I love how he has to translate everything through Sanctuary Moon and other media to understand the weird humans. And that the text never shies away from the fact that Murderbot isn't human, doesn't think like a human, doesn't want to be human, and has to deal with the physical dysphoria of appearing human. I also love the vast and diverse world that is built around Murderbot.

I'd love basically anything you write involving Murderbot and fluffy domestic life when their not fighting off a vast conspiracy. Maybe a reconnect with Art or accidentally ending up old and the god parent and adoptive caretaker of a few hundred small humans and government module hacked sec bots. If you want something different. I'd love to see something with MIKI pre-canon. Being a part of its family. Being loved and protected. What is the mind of a bot like? And how does MIKI see the world?

Song of the Sea: This is one of my comfort watch movies. I'd love to see Saoirse growing up. How does giving up her Selki heritage effect her? Is it hard being among humans with no other Selki to talk to? How about Ben? Is life different now that he knows the truth of what happened to his mom? And does he ever leave the lighthouse and experience the world outside now that his water phobia is less severe?

One of my favorite movies. I just love how they are both effed up and trying to do their best anyway. I'd love something post movie, with them finding a way to leave the CIA for good. Or something pre-canon while they were living together and what it was like for Phoebe to know what was going on and still having to hide it from Mike to keep him alive. If you want something non-shippy character studies of either of these characters would be great. Or anything about Apollo Ape

Masamune Asuka Tachibana Juta Miyakozuka Ryo

This series stays on my Yuletide list every year. There isn't much I can say about this series except that I love if whole-heartedly and regularly re-read it when I am having a bad day and want to read about friendship and fluffy, sweet things conquering all. I love these three idiots friendship more than even Ryo and Asuka's romance. So something non-shippy would be great. Either during the series or set sometime between the main series and the Epilogue Or if you are willing to go a little shippy I'd love something about Ryo and Asuka convincing Juta that he's as much a part of their relationship as they are. Not necessarily in the sex way, but in the everybody lives together and Juta helps raise the babies, because he doesn't trust two single children to know how to do it right. And eventually he is basically staying on the couch every night and has taken over the spare bedroom with his drawing supplies. And he's about 20 chapters into a new Manga series about babies. (Bonus: I'd love to see Asuka and Juta both play with gender a little more than they got to in the series. Does Asuka like to share girl nights with his dad? Does Juta become Jewel for anything but publicity? Are there parts of being her that he loves?Also I really head-canon Juta as Asexual and Bi-romantic.)

Sooo much chemistry between these two. I would love something shippy if you can make it clear that they have a understanding with their respective spouses. This is one of my only fandoms where I have any particular interest in smut. So if you are interested in smut (Bonus: The size difference just does it for me. Give me all the intercrural sex, frottage, and handjobs. I'm really not much for penetrative sex, so take that where you will.) For non shippy/smutty I'd love the two of them running off on adventures together, bickering all the while.

I want a family of convenience fic for this so bad. I just want Healy to adopt the March's. Throughout the movie you can practically feel his disbelief at all the stupid shit Holland gets up to. I want him getting fed up with all the ridiculousness and teaming up with Holly to drag Holland out of the bottle and back into some kind of equilibrium. Cooking actual food Holland, not that diner crap every night. And basically bullying Holland into taking cases without swindling anybody. Until one day the two of them realize they are co-parenting and sharing a business, and how did they effing come to this? If they decide to take things in a shippy direction I wouldn't mind it but I really love fluffy domesticy fics

Touch starved Mark Watney and Recovery fic! Whether you want that to be on the Hermes or back on Earth I do not care. I ship these guys and also love them as friends who are awesome and let you cuddle up between them because you have literally not touched anybody for over a year. So I will love anything shippy or not. (Bonus: I'd love to see Mark dealing with Mars related PTSD and working through everything with the other's help if that is something that you would be interested in writing)

Okay, I know this book is all "Mikey really isn't gay" but screw that. I want the two of them going off to college together and figuring out that Mikey is Bi after all and they are basically in a realationship already. And being those weird college kids who have an apartment off campus after Freshmen year and adopting like sixty cats and Mikey being able to get free of his families orbit and starting to find some kind of healing with Jared at his side. And them making plans for how to handle Jared going off to become a God and their star-crossed relationship thing. And you know just life when you aren't the Indie-kids ( Bonus: I really hated the offer of the magical cure for Mikey's anxiety and OCD at the end of the book. I know he didn't take it, but just the offer made my skin all crawly. Please don't include mentions of it in the story if you can avoid it.)

For all fandoms: My hard limits are rape/non-con & graphic on-screen. child abuse, I'm find with implied/past child abuse. As the PTSD elements in a lot the fandoms I've picked are what drew me to the stories in the first place. I just can't really handle detailed present-day abuse.

My general likes are: domesticity, Found families, Neurodiverse characters, and trans characters. And as always feel free to ignore any specific details I include in this letter if they interfere with you story.
