In Harry’s mind flying will always equal freedom. It fills him with adrenaline. It makes him feel like nothing can stop him, as if nothing can hold him down. He comes alive in the air.

The feel of cool wind cutting into his face, his knuckles cramping as they are squeezed painfully tight around a wooden broom handle, the weight of his robes fighting to pull his body off his broom, they are the sensations that his mind has labeled freedom. The sensations that send a visceral thrill through him as he slips even the most rudimentary of tethers, gravity.
