Day 23. Victim: Growing Older and Making Choices

Percy had always been the victim. He’d been a victim to his mother’s ambition, his elder brothers’ desire for independence, and his younger siblings’ jealousy. He’d always despised that victimization so he’d hidden away, finding solace in books and his father’s presence, a victim being reassured by a fellow victim.

Over time that changed and Percy began despising his father as much as he did the rest of his family. He’d been too young to understand why his father allowed himself to be victimized. Now he knows, sometimes being the victim is the best way to get the job done.
