Day 6

In your own space, share a book/song/movie/tv show/fanwork/etc that changed your life. Something that impacted on your consciousness in a way that left its mark on your soul. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I don't really think of things in terms of what 'changed my life' so much as things that have stuck with me through the years.

Lets start with Manga:

Demon Ororon: This was the first main stream series I read that had two of the keys that I consider major necessities for me to like a romance. 1. Both the hero and heroine (hero/hero, heroine/heroin, etc.) have to be willing to protect and fight for each other. Not just one person saving the other. 2. They can't fall in love in vacuum they have to be willing to accept each others families, or my favorite build a found family of their own.

It's bloody and has a sad ending, but please consider giving the series a try.

Otomen: This one isn't really a life changer series for me, so much as one that I pick up when I need to feel better. The main characters protect and fight for each other, accept each others lack of gender norms, and create a safe place and found family of their own.

Fanworks:

Honestly anything that involves a asexual, transgender, or genderqueer character has a special place in my heart. Fandom was a big part of how I discovered that I was asexual and gender-queer. I've from a hyper-conservative family and I don't know that I'd ever have found out about genderqueer or asexuality without fandom.

On a more concrete note:

Sand and Light by Sholio has a special place in my heart because it was the first fanfiction work I ever read, and it was through her that I discovered fandom.
