Day Three

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser-known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom who maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.

This one is a little harder than the first two, because we're encouraged to rec fics that don't have a lot of feedback that deserve a lot of feedback. A lot of the stories I read are in larger fandoms and are well known, since I find them through A03.

So I'm reccing a few more than three:

Pillars of Salt and Sand by Lizardbeth:
Summary: He has everything he wanted. But the price is too high.

This one is in a big fandom (Avengers MCU) namely based off of Thor 2 [Don't read the next paragraph unless you are okay with spoilers]

Its not got a lot of feedback yet though, so I feel like I can still do a little bit of signal boosting. It's all told from Loki's POV after he has taken Odin's place as king of Asgard. What I like about this one is that it shows that place where different kinds of love meet. Loki loves his mother and Odin loves his queen. They both love Asgard in their own ways. In becoming Odin, Loki gets to experience respect and responsibility without judgement and in doing so learns to judge himself and the decisions that reach back and forward in time..

blurs the darkness by Rest
Fandom: Hockey RPS
Summary: The thing about Tyler and Brownie is that they're really tight. Brownie gets Tyler to taste-test his latest experiments. Tyler forces Brownie to give him his brutally honest opinion about his more adventurous tattoo designs. They're both artists but they work with totally different materials, so looking over each others' work is always fascinating.

This is fairly well known fic, but I couldn't not rec it. It is stories that sticks with me and makes me want to read and re-read it. So rarely have I found such and honest and believable romance that neither shys away from the difficulties experienced by transgender people, or makes it the centerpiece around which the characters romance is built.

Also yay! for being honest about biology.

Five Times Mill Bulstrode Came Out by disamphigory
Fandom: Harry Potter
Summary: Mill Bulstrode takes a winding road to becoming the wizard he is and letting everyone know about it.

Another large fandom, but this one doesn't have nearly enough love. Mill Bulstrode takes on the world, helps create a potion that lets transgender wizards have the body they dream about, and finds love.

Galileo from White Lotus
Password is White Lotus
Fandom: Avatar: Korra

Awesome Music video with a song about past lives and redeeming yourself while not knowing why its required. It fits really well with the fact that Korra is paying the price for Aang's actions as well as those of their predecessors.

Disney Gender Bender  by Ripushko

Just discovered these during Yuletide. Don't know if they are well known or not. The Disney Princesses reimagined as Disney Princes.

Pretty Boy by Omocat

Not exactly fandom but awesome enough that it deserves a fandom of its own. Pretty Boy by Omocat on tumblr. Non-traditional Romance Comic that needs to be read. It will only take a few minutes and you'll be glad you did!
